Spring seems to be officially upon us in Eastern North Carolina. With the warmer weather brings the General Assembly Short Session. Our office is currently expecting short session to start the last week of April, but we will know more when the Speaker’s office releases a schedule.
Since our last newsletter, we have hosted First Lady Stein in Wilson, I’ve visited Vick and Gardners Elementary for Read Across America week and been at work preparing for another busy legislative session. I am looking forward to being back in Raleigh fighting for legislation that benefits the people of NC House District 24.
Recent Events
First Lady Anna Stein’s visit to Wilson
Back in February, our office was pleased to host First Lady Anna Stein and members from the NC Department of Commerce to Wilson! First Lady Stein visited Wilson Arts, the Whirligig Park, and Whirlidogs Cafe. We were incredibly proud to show off Wilson’s growing attractions.

Black History Month Program at Carron’s Funeral Home
I was incredibly grateful to be recognized by Carrons Funeral Home last month. Their commitment to serving families in their time of greatest need is so important, and I was glad to be a part of the day.
YMCA’s Youth and Government (YAG)
As a former YAG student, I was honored to speak at the closing ceremony the other weekend. YAG gives students the opportunity to find their voice and step into leadership positions. I was especially glad to meet with the Fike High School YAG delegation at the General Assembly and get to know more about policy solutions they were interested in.

Read Across America Week
The first week of March is Read Across America Week. I had such a great time reading to students at both Vick and Gardners Elementary. Thank you to the teachers, students, and media specialists who made this possible.
